The Mummification Museum features well presented displays that describe the art of mummification and is housed in the former visitors center on Luxor’s corniche.
Start the day off right with a private pickup from your Luxor hotel by our Egyptologist guide, who will also take you to the Mummification and Luxor Museums.
The Luxor Museum, located in the city's center and perched on the corniche with a view of the west bank of the Nile, will be your first destination. There's a small, purpose-built facility that houses the museum.
The Museum of Antiquities in Cairo has a much smaller selection of artifacts on display than the nation's major collections; this was done on purpose, though, as the museum takes great pride in the caliber of the items it owns, the orderly manner in which they are arranged, and the use of legible multilingual labeling.
After that, you'll be taken to the Museum of Mummification. With a view of the River Nile, the museum is situated on the corniche in front of the Mina Palace Hotel and to the north of the Luxor Temple. The goal of the museum is to educate visitors about the ancient practice of mummification. Not just dead humans were embalmed by the Ancient Egyptians, but a variety of animals as well.
This unusual museum features mummies of fish, crocodiles, and cats on exhibit. One can also see an idea of the equipment employed.
Upon completion of the trip, you will be taken back to your Luxor hotel.
