All about the trip:
When our tour guide picks you up from your hotel in the morning, your first stop will be Cairo's Egyptian Museum. More than 5,000 years ago's pharaonic riches can be found there. It also includes riches from Tutankhamun's tomb. Visit The Royal Mummies Room as well.
Next on our itinerary is the enormous medieval Salah El-Din citadel, which served as a crusader stronghold in the past. Marvel at the dazzling domed ceilings, hanging lighting, and vistas of Cairo as you explore this historic fortification. Muhammad Ali's Alabaster Mosque is located within the citadel.
After stopping for lunch at a neighborhood eatery, we'll head to the Old Cairo neighborhood.
Coptic Cairo is a region of Old Cairo that includes numerous Coptic churches and historical sites, as well as the Babylon Fortress, the Hanging Church, and the Greek Church of St. George.
Christian tradition holds that the Holy Family came to this region and lodged at the location of Saints Sergius Church (Abu Serga). The Church of St. Barbara and the Ben Ezra Synagogue are also worth visiting.
